There is no better way to learn a language than by speaking to a native. LanguageLinker launched in June 2011 and is set to be the leading online social network for language exchanges.

LanguageLinker was founded by Kathryn Stride (native English) and Ismael Sánchez (Spanish) in 2011 following their own experiences.

The founders originally met from a language exchange back in 2007. Kathryn, having moved to Spain and wanting to learn Spanish and make friends, found it difficult to find information on exchange groups and to find native Spanish people locally interested in practicing English. At the time, Ismael was studying English in a language academy and started to look for people to practice English with. Following this, Ismael listed an advert on a local forum, which Kathryn later found. The two came together after speaking over email (Kathryn in Spanish and Ismael in English).

From their own difficulty in finding people to practice languages with and after hearing stories from friends and family, the idea for LanguageLinker was born to be able to help others in the same situation.

We offer members the opportunity to not only meet people in their local area but to meet people from around the world to practice languages with. Members can be at a basic or advanced level of learning a language, everyone is welcome to join. What’s more is, it’s completely free to use.

¡Absolutely no joining fee or monthly membership!

Members can enjoy their own profile area from where they can view their messages and exchange friends in an instant as well as upload a photo and description for other members to view.

The advanced search option allows members to narrow down the search further to find their ideal language exchange friend.

Other facilities include requesting an exchange, send messages and live online chat.

View our «News Board» to see our blog, latest news and events, as well as interesting articles and your chance to share your language learning experiences.
